Anotha day, anotha dolla....

So I'm in the cushy bathrobe again, hangin' out at the house. The bebe' is snoozin' on, and I'm trying to motivate myself to do something....ANYTHING. This has been the looooongest week so far, and it's WEDNESDAY! Ugh. At least I made it through the halfway point. I'm feeling a bit on the draggy/catatonic side this evening, which I'm sure is the result of my crazy job. I go through the same thing every September, which is the biggest/busiest time of year for us. Some people start getting desperate, which turns into conniving, which evolves into scheming, which cultivates the lying and the backstabbing, which activates my "shut-up-and-leave-me-the-heck-alone-or-I'm-going-to-pummel-something" reflex, which really isn't all that healthy for either myself, or those who find themselves in my close vicinity. The silver lining is that I don't have to deal with this in my own little office. We're pretty much the Brady Bunch. You mess with one of us, and the others are on your heels faster than you can go cry to your superior. Everyone watches out for the other, instead of each man for himself. Honestly, this time of year tends to bring out the worst in everyone, and the whole place is much happier when it's all over. So--I'll probably be a little sketchy sounding until the beginning of October, at which time all this should blow over. We have a new gal who seems to be fitting right in, and hopefully soon things will cease to be so chaotic.

In Family Land, the hubby and I just watched a movie last night for the first time in AGES. The in-laws had rented "Vacancy" and handed it off to us when they were finished.
It was soooo creepy! It's definitely more suspense than horror/gore which I would much rather watch anyway. It scared my pants off! I don't normally do well with scary movies anyway, (I'm one of those compulsive jumpers--I scream when the opening credits come on...) so of course my hubby got several good laughs at my expense. The punk. It was good to spend some cuddly-time together though, as it seems the time for that is so easily taken up by other things.

Well, it's 9:20pm, and I haven't done anything constructive with my evening. I'm going to go mush my bag of Amish friendship bread and go to bed. Speaking of, have any of you, (besides you H.) done this before? I'm excited to see if I can make it come out! (And by the way H., I'm assuming the flour you add isn't the 'self-rising' kind because you add baking powder and soda too right?) I'm such a kitchen novice!!!

Brit at the VMA's.....

So am I the only one who's going to admit, (**hanging head***) that I'm going to watch Brit open the VMA's this evening?? Much as I hate to admit it, I think she's probably going to bring it. She has to, or she's toast. I really hope she falls flat on her face--but that's just my friend Mr. Jealous talkin'. (My hubby used to be in luuuuuuv with the White Trash Queen when we met, and I don't think I've ever really gotten over that, no matter how crazy she is.) :) Anyway, back to the falling flat...I hope she does, but I have a feeling she won't. There's this tiny part of my that thinks she's been playin' this whole crazy thing up to make her comeback even bigger. But then I'm like---nah, she really is certifiable. Anyway, T minus 2 1/2 hours. We'll see soon won't we??

UPDATE: Even if she didn't fall flat on her face, she might as well have. For those of you who didn't witness this travesty of a performance, you MUST find a way to watch it. I'm sure it will be on YouTube tomorrow.

THE BREAKDOWN:

1) Her weave wasn't as alarming as it normally was, but still quite nauseating.
2) Even though she's been suckin' down those Hoodia lollies like they are oxygen, she still did not have the body needed for those god-awful booty shorts.
3) She kept licking her lips like she was nervous, (as she should have been), and it threw off her over-the-top-obvious lip-synching.
4) She should have just stood still. She barely moved, and kept looking like she wasn't really sure where she was or where she was headed.

IN CONCLUSION: I think part of my brain just melted. I can't believe that just took up 3 minutes of my life. Ugh.

Another day, another tooth

Seriously--the kid is only 8 months old and he has SEVEN TEETH. Craziness. Again, we had no idea until it had already come all the way through. He never acted like anything was going on. (Karma is so gonna get it's revenge with my next child--I can feel it!) We've had a pretty good weekend so far. Friday I only worked a half-day, so I had the afternoon to spend with my little muffin--we just slummed around the house until the hubby came home and then we went out to eat at The Barrell w/ my mother-in-law. Baby C was flawless--makin' eyes at all the ladies, and being the little charmer. Saturday I worked in the morning, then headed home with a couple of the girls to attend a wedding for a former coworker. The muffin got a little restless, but he pulled through okay. We came home and changed into our slacker clothes and headed uptown to look at some Play Yards for the bebe'. We came away with a great one for a steal, and he's been using it all weekend. It's nice because now that he's so mobile, he gets tired of being in his bouncer or excersaucer, and in the Play Yard he can move around. And the great thing is I don't have to be right on his little tushie every second, and so can get some things done!! :) Remember my earlier resolution to be a better housewife??!!

Caden Meets Popsicle

Caden loves some popsicles! And as you can see, he gets pretty upset when you take it away from him! (I think he got his temper from his Daddy...)

Ugh.

Can you tell I'm going through old pictures? I'm SO glad I'm not pregnant anymore. 'Nuff said.

"...To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die."

I miss my brother. It's been one of those days--when everywhere I turn I'm reminded of him. The song "Missing You" by P-Diddy came on the radio this morning and I just about lost it. Then, immidiately following was "Stronger", by Kanye West. Ry loved Kanye, and so everytime I hear the big K bustin' out "Gold Digga" I have to smile, even though my stomach feels like it's being pulled out through my belly button. I can just picture him in his truck, rockin' out, bobbing his head and talking in that slow drawl with his crooked smile. Some of my last memories with him were of us, just the two of us, sitting on the tailgate listening to music and looking at the stars. We would always see who could point out the Big Dipper, or Orion's belt. The pictures above are from the last Easter we were all together. We had so much fun that day.... As a family tradition, after Church, we head back to Nanny and Grampa's for lunch, then the whole family goes out in the field and we all fly kites together. No joke. We seriously do this every year. :) As usual, Ry and my then-fiance' were picking on each other, seeing whose kite could get the highest. (As you can see, my darling hubby ended up running from the cows...they were quite interested in him, but he was not at all willing for them to take a closer look!) It was one of those events for me that is permanently imprinted on my brain. Every day, I regret that Baby C will never get to meet his uncle, but I'm hoping to do lots to help him feel like he did. Ry is going to be the material for those magical bedtime stories that all children love to hear their parents tell. I can already hear him--"Mom, tell me the one where..." :) It'll be great.
