Mood--Exhausted
I'm Reading--Still pluggin' away at "For One More Day". (It's still good)
I'm Listening--Elliot Yamin, "I'll Wait for You" (I LOVE this song--and so does the husband, but I'll bet he wouldn't tell you....)
Why do babies fight sleep? I mean seriously--I would do a heck of a lot of things these days to get to just curl up and knock out for a while. I just spent the last half hour shushing, humming, rocking, bouncing, walking.... He finally gave up for the evening, but man! At least he's a pretty good sleeper most nights. It's just getting him there! The whole "bouncy" walking thing used to be a fine way of getting him off to Sleepytown, but, my son being a chunk muffin and all, I feel like sometimes I'm about one bounce away from throwing my back out! (And to all you "Let them cry it out Momma's--I swear I try, it just doesn't work....)
So anyway, this whole working late thing is getting ooolllllllllddddddd. I can't remember how I did it all the time before... It just really stinks because by the time i get home, it's Baby C's bedtime, (obviously that doesn't mean anything to him--if you've forgotton, refer to the above paragraph), and he's really not in the mood for any interaction other than the afore-mentioned bouncy, walky, rocky kind. I feel like I miss out. Regardless, you do whatcha gotta do, and by heck, I'm doin' it. I just hope it doesn't last much longer. Besides missin' QT time with Baby C, I miss my husband too! Talk about a balancing act--and I never was that good at time management..... :(

I hope he knows...
Sometimes, I look at my son, and I wonder how he could POSSIBLY know how much he is loved. I just have to smile and shake my head sometimes--I know he doesn't realize how when I look at him, there are moments my heart swells up so big I think it will explode! Children make you realize you are capable of such depths of feeling! I'm reading "For One More Day", by Mitch Albom, (I got stuck on him after "The Five People You Meet in Heaven") and I LOVE the following passage; it describes just how I want my son to describe me when he's older:
"She wasn't easy on me, don't get me wrong. She scolded me.
She punished me when I needed it. But how she loved me.
She really did. She loved me falling off a swing set.
She loved me stepping on her floors with muddy shoes.
She loved me through vomit and snot and bloody knees.
She loved me coming and going, at my worst and at my best. She had a bottomless well of love for me..."
I hope someday, he'll know.
6 Month Check-up....Already!

We just got back from Caden's 6 month check up--he weighs 20 pounds!! He's such a chunk muffin!! He is also gearing up to crawl. He gets up on all fours and starts rocking back and forth...the ped. got really tickled at him and said he would be crawling in the next month! Now Kevin and I have to baby proof the house! We are now finally trying to transition him over to his crib--long time coming i know! He actually took two naps in it yesterday, but seemed to wake up pretty quickly, so I had to move him to the couch...but it's a start. I think we're going to try to put him in it tonight at bedtime and see how he does. I think it's just a lot for him to get used to because he's so used to having something to snuggle up with, and his crib is wide open. The doc okayed us to have his bumpers in there with him, (i had taken them out b/c i was paranoid) so we'll put them back in tonight, and maybe that will make a difference!!

Caden was extra fussy this past weekend, and now we know why--he just got his second tooth! It's right next to his other bottom tooth. Now we just have to work on the top!

I can't believe it's happened allready! Last Tuesday, Kevin was keeping him and I called to check in--Kevin said that Caden had a tooth poking through!! I couldn't believe it! He is so cute with his little snaggle tooth!! He really hasn't been that fussy either--I admit I was expecting his behavior to be far worse...although I know this is just the beginning... He's really gnawing on things, and so far his favorite it a vibrating star we got at Wal-Mart. He thinks it's really funny to make sounds while it's in his mouth... We just got him a HUGE exersaucer at Babies R Us, (I know, he's COMPLETELY spoiled!) He really likes it. Between that and his jumperoo, we can keep him safe and occupied for a long time! :) The exersaucer has a lot of interactive toys on it, and it goes over things like colors, shapes, and numbers. Kevin asked me this morning, "So this thing will make him smarter right?" :) He's so funny. Caden is relaly developing into a handsome little boy. We're still not sure what color his eyes and hair are going to turn out to be. His hair looks really dark inside, but in the sunlight it looks blond. His eyes are the same way--they seem to change depending on what sort of light you're in. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out! He is also eating Stage 2 Foods now, and so far, he looooves Macaroni and Cheese! He's also really into all the fruit medleys and juices, (we're using a Sippy cup now too!!) He's not really good at holding it, but if I hold it, he can drink out of it just fine!! It seems like he's growing up and changing so fast!

Caden actually rolled over for the first time several weeks ago, but it seems he's just figured out he can control it and it's not just an accident! :) He has been rolling over non-stop all weekend...You lay him down on his back, and he immiediately flips himself over. His arms are getting really strong too as he is struggling to hold himself up on his tummy. He's even tried a sort of "Army Crawl"! He'll be crawling all over the place soon I'm sure.... Mom came up this past wkd, and we took Caden to the Game Farm in Frankfort. We had a really good time--it was a gorgeous day!!
